Overview and Summary

The Financial Accountant will support various aspects of finance and accounting for the company and requires solid accounting experience combined with strong analytical skills. Working under the supervision of the Corporate Accounting Manager, the position will be responsible for preparing and posting journal entries, assisting with the month-end close, reconciling balance sheet accounts, and recording accounting transactions for foreign subsidiaries as assigned. The Financial Accountant will also participate in various month-end reporting tasks including the global consolidation and the preparation of various audit schedules.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the timely completion of recurring tasks for the month-end close.
  • Prepare supporting documentation and post journal entries, of various types.
  • Develop proficiencies with journal entries of all types (i.e., keyed, uploaded, recurring).
  • Maintain balance sheet account reconciliations, including timely research and resolution.
  • Compile and analyze financial information to prepare entries to general ledger accounts. 
  • Prepare the global consolidation report for manager review.
  • Use data retrieval techniques, including adhoc JET analysis schedules, reports & work papers.
  • Prepare analysis schedules at the request of the external auditors (PBC items) including trial balances, intercompany schedules, etc. 
  • Develop understanding and knowledge depth for data dimensions and org structures. 
  • With supervision, support the following accounting areas (others may be assigned): Payroll & Human Resources including commissions, bonuses, group insurance, contingent benefit plans, Life Beyond Barriers & Subsidiaries (LBBRG and Talem), AutoHook subsidiary, Domestic Intercompany, Subsidiary Investments, Capitalized Product Development, and Budgeted Corporate Overhead Allocation. 
  • Works with manager in completing own annual goal setting and performance review in a timely manner.
  • Works with manager to prioritize other duties as assigned.

  • Demonstrated experience with reconciliations.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills required; including pivot tables and advanced formulas such as VLOOKUP and conditional formatting.
  • Preferred experience with: Microsoft Navision or similar, and ERP implementations.

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE

  • University degree required with focus in Accounting from an accredited college or university, or equivalent foreign institution. 
  • 1-3 years of relevant work experience required.
