    POSITION OVERVIEW
    Under supervision, the Associate Developer will develop and maintain Urban Science software solutions based on a set of given requirements.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Program and implement new functionality for the Urban Science software applications (including design, coding, participation in code reviews, unit testing, and configuration/release management).
    • Participate in the development of design specifications with other members of the software development team. 
    • Adhere to, support, and continuously improve processes.
    • Create necessary technical documentation in support programming and design activities such as release notes, code comments, use cases, and training materials.

    Ability to learn and use Urban Science’s Software Development Life Cycle.

    • Familiar with a variety of web languages such as (HTML, XHTML, .NET, CSS, JavaScript).
    • Familiar with (or desire and ability to learn) tools such as C#, Java, and ASP.NET.
    • Familiar with (or desire and ability to learn) database systems such as SQL Server or Oracle.
    • Experience with Basic Unit Testing.
    • Web service experience (WF and WCF) preferred.
    • Able to break down requirements into smaller tasks for more accurate estimations with guidance using given requirements and the existing conceptual design.
    • Able to take the given requirements and existing high level design to create simple detail level designs.
    • Able to understand relational database fundamentals and simple data structures.
    • Ability to create and modify basic SQL queries.
    • Able to develop and maintains automated unit tests and integration tests with supervision.
    • Ability to prioritize competing demands, manage multiple concurrent tasks and adapt to changing priorities.

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

    • Must have Baccalaureate degree in an appropriate field from an accredited U.S. college or university, equivalent foreign institution, or equivalent experience.
    • Exposure to basic software development and testing methodologies (performance/load testing, scaffolding development, interactive development, configuration management).
    • Experience with databases and product development process are a plus.
    • SQL and MS .NET Certifications are a plus.
