  • Overview and Summary


    Under the direction of the Talent Development Lead, the Instructional Designer will support all phases of the ADDIE process for the creation of internal learning programs. This role will facilitate workshops with subject matter experts, analyze business processes and tasks and identify relevant skills and knowledge for learning.  This role will also be expected to understand and use the Learning Management System (LMS).

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities


    • Work with Talent Development Lead to plan training needs analysis projects.
    • Partner with project manager to provide work estimates for project planning and scheduling purposes.
    • Monitor and report project status updates; adhere to project schedule.
    • Plan, organize, schedule and facilitate workshops with subject matter experts and stakeholders to analyze business processes and work tasks; identify key skills and knowledge for learners.
    • Use various tools and software (i.e., spreadsheets, TNA reports, instructional design documents, etc.) to document analysis output for use in the design phase.
    • Develop a solid working knowledge of the learning content to facilitate and expedite the analysis, design and development of learning solutions.
    • Partner with subject matter experts to establish learning goals and objectives; identify relevant content for learning solutions.
    • Recommend learning solutions that are appropriate given the target audience, timing, learning objectives, and learner preferences.
    • Design and develop effective learning solutions for a variety of delivery methods such as webinars, instructor-led training, web-based training, performance support materials, etc.
    • Design and develop materials such as narration scripts, facilitator guides, participant guides, presentations, job aids, exercises, assessments, etc.
    • Partner with Learning team for course pilots and launches, including but not limited to, loading of course materials/documents into LMS, testing/piloting courses for both functionality and learner feedback; communication/launch plan; assessment and course evaluation.
    • Builds strong rapport/trust with subject matter experts; ensures confidence in the quality of analysis and design provided to SMEs.
    • Support job analysis projects by participating in SME interviews, writing task statements, determining job qualifications, development of job descriptions, and the creation/updating of career ladders.
    • Completes goal setting and performance management tasks in a timely manner.

    • Technical Skills: Requires experience with Learning Management Systems (experience with Halogen/Saba LMS preferred); requires experience with web authoring tools (experience with Captivate preferred).
    • Facilitation Skills: Must be proficient with facilitating workshops and discussions with SMEs, including knowing the right questions to ask and capable of surfacing required details and information


    • Bachelor’s degree required (degrees in instructional design, learning, psychology, sociology, etc. preferred)
    • 3-5 years related work experience required
    • Requires knowledge and experience with instructional design principles and adult learning theories
