    POSITION OVERVIEW
    The Software Configuration Engineer will focus on software delivery automation and Continuous Delivery of software products. Will serve as a hands on developer of release automation functionality for new and existing software solutions. The position also includes the creation, implementation and enforcement of policies and procedures, automation tools, source control, deployment orchestration and process standardization.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    • Develop application builds using large-scale, multi-platform systems; continually evaluate build and deployment procedures for opportunities to optimize, streamline and automate.
    • Deliver deployment orchestration that provides automatic upgrades to our n-tiered applications residing in multiple datacenters across the globe; this involves upgrading web servers, application servers, and database servers.
    • Develop and help implement Continuous Delivery tooling and standards.
    • Provide support to internal teams working to implement and utilize SCM.
    • Work with application infrastructure architects to establish the physical environments to effectively perform the software builds and deployments with an emphasis on quality, integrity, and security.
    • Actively monitor and respond to ticket requests via the SM Portal, ensuring adherence to SLAs (service level agreements).
    • Stay updated on related technologies and make recommendations for Software Configuration, Build, and Release Management to the team for review.
    • Assist with application of policies, standards and procedures for SCM within Urban Science.
    • Proactively communicates with upper management to provide updates and report issues in a timely manner.
    • Works with manager in completing own annual goal setting and performance review in a timely manner.
    • Participate in ad-hoc IT Operations related projects or assignments, as needed.

    Qualifications - Education and Experience

    • Documentation: Proficient in technical writing and documentation.
    • Technical Knowledge: Knowledge and experience with various technologies required for the specific role
      • Experience with one or more of these programming languages: C#, VB, Perl, or Java.
      • Experience with one or more scripting languages: CMD, Java Script, Perl, Python, Bash, Ruby, PowerShell.
      • Experience with automated and continuous build tools, such as: MSBuild, Maven, or NAnt.
      • Desired experience in at least one of the following areas: creating automated SDLC processes, Continuous Delivery workflows, or web service application deployments, troubleshooting, and maintenance.
      • Desired experience with industry standard Continuous Integration & Continuous Delivery and Build tools, such as: ElectricFlow, Microsoft Release Manager, TFS and Jenkins.
      • Experience Working with .NET and .NET Core Applications is required.
      • Experience with Windows Server 2012/2016, IIS 7.0-10.
      • Database experience: Microsoft SQL Server required; Oracle, MongoDB or Maria desired.
      • Understanding of “Infrastructure as a Code” (IaaC) concept and experience with major IaaC tools (Chef, Puppet, Ansible, etc.) preferred.
      • Desired ITIL knowledge, especially in the areas of Release Management (RM) and Service Continuity Management (SCM).

    • Budgeting/Finance: Ability to gather cost information and assist in making cost estimates.

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

    • Must have Baccalaureate degree in an appropriate IT field such Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Management Information Systems from an accredited U.S. college or university, equivalent foreign institution, or equivalent experience.
    • Must have a minimum of three years’ relevant work experience.
