    Urban Science One Year Paid Internship

    Urban Science is looking for Computer Science / Engineering/ Applied Mathematics students who are seeking to secure a one year placement working in our UK Head Office in Reading.


    We are offering the opportunity for 2 Interns to join Urban Science on a 1 Year paid placement in July 2020. Working from a modern and casual office in central Reading just 5 minutes from the main train station, this is a perfect opportunity for an undergraduate student to  gain work experience and use technical skills to independently execute high quality data-related projects and assignments.


    Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    • Planning, organising, developing and delivering client-requested projects within prescribed time schedule
    • Managing client databases utilising Urban Science proprietary software
    • Tracking, processing, analysing and verifying data
    • Creating and generating client reports and deliverables
    • Completing tasks and developing solutions that meet requested specifications
    • Maintaining software systems

    Throughout your placement year, your Manager will take vested interest in your development and dedicate time to set clear goals and provide you with regular feedback. You'll have access to the Urban Science University a learning platform offering 10 000 + free courses to enhance your professional skills. You will train, alongside your intern peers, other members and senior managers that can help you take your career forward.

    Qualifications - Education and Experience

    To perform this job successfully, we are looking for candidates who have the following:

    • SQL Server experience desirable but not required
    • Computer Science / Engineering/ Applied Mathematics degree, completed full-time second year on target to achieve at least 2:1
    • Good understanding of MS Excel for charting and graphing of data, writing formulas within cells, and/or filtering, sorting, and formatting data.
    • Relationship builder you thrive on achieving outstanding results through collaboration
    • Solid mathematical grounding and good analytical skills
    • Skills to execute statistical analysis software program and create scatter plots, bar charts and histograms.
    • Knowledge of basic descriptive statistics
    • Good communicator who keeps everyone involved and on track, including project teams, individuals and clients
    • Strong Presentation skills necessary to effectively communicate ideas in a clear, concise manner.
    • Creative problem-solver you jump on opportunities to come up with alternative solutions

    Competing priorities juggler, with good organisational skills and attention to detail.
