POSITION OVERVIEW

This position is on a client-facing account team responsible for supporting and maintaining an API and database-driven data pipeline project – seeing the project through from initial delivery to successful sustainment.  The Consultant is focused on technical and client-handling skills to execute high-quality projects and assignments with a high degree of accuracy in a timely manner.  The role will provide hands-on support for the design, development, testing, launch, and client support during the initial build-out phase of the project.  The role will transition into a sustainment phase, helping to implement future changes to the platform, reporting platform metrics to clients, troubleshooting issues with the system/data, coordinating communications with platform stakeholders, and presenting the project status to clients.   Regular, in-person, monthly team meetings at the local office are critical to the success of this role.  Technical tools used most frequently in position are proprietary software, advanced Excel, and SQL.  The role may require client presentations, so the ability to create captivating slide decks is preferred.  
 
Workplace flexibility has taken on a whole new meaning here at Urban Science.  The requirements of each team, role, and employee can look quite different.  Leaders work with their teams to determine the right balance for working in-person and remotely, considering the needs of the business, our clients, cross-functional projects, individual work, and individual preferences.  Position preference is for candidates local to the Los Angeles area; even if remote, all candidates must be available and willing to travel to the Long Beach, CA office as required, but currently, once a month.  During the initial training, there may be more travel to the Long Beach, CA office to benefit from in-person learning.

Base Salary Range: $76,245.00 - 94,010.00 + discretionary bonus potential.  This range is based on our market pay structures.  However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Plans, organizes, develops, and delivers client-requested reports, deliverables, and projects on time, adhering to client-requested specifications.
  • Designs, creates, and manages client databases, utilizing Urban Science proprietary software, ensuring accurate and high-quality data.
  • Serves as a contact for and develops relationships with the client to help respond to client requests and inquiries.
  • Acquires and maintains a thorough understanding of client data for assigned projects to create client deliverables properly.
  • Assumes responsibility for accurate and high-quality data being utilized on assigned projects.
  • Accurately performs application coding and testing functions associated with developing custom client software.
  • Tracks, processes, analyzes, and verifies data to improve accuracy and quality.
  • Uses technical skills to accurately monitor, update, and maintain Urban Science's internal software systems.
  • Attends project meetings to document meeting notes and stay current on project deliverables.
  • Partners with internal teams to ensure software is installed correctly, set up, and functioning at established quality levels.
  • Adheres to quality control standards for Urban Science and client organizations.
  • Coordinates with individuals or teams to complete analyses, tasks, and projects on time and with high quality.
  • Proactively communicates with management to provide updates and report issues promptly.
  • Actively works with the manager to understand and implement solutions to improve NPS (client satisfaction).
  • Actively supports and participates in required Urban Science training programs to achieve targeted development objectives.
  • Works with the manager to complete annual goal setting and performance reviews promptly.
  • Provides training and coaching to Analysts as directed and assumes responsibility for reviewing the accuracy and quality of their work.
  • Works with manager to prioritize other duties as assigned.

  • Technical/Software: Must have demonstrated programming proficiency at the minimum requirement for the role (programming proficiency varies by role and may not be required in specific roles. For those roles where programming proficiency is needed, typical programming languages used may include .NET, VBA, C#, SQL, Java, HTML, SSIS, and Open Source)
  • Time Management: Demonstrated ability to prioritize competing demands and manage multiple concurrent tasks is required
  • Sales & Business Development: The ability to identify potential new opportunities from the client and proactively communicate those opportunities to management is required


EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

  • University degree required; technical degrees are strongly preferred (i.e., engineering, applied math, statistics, applied science, information systems, operations research, etc.) from an accredited college or university, or equivalent foreign institution. Non-technical degrees will be considered if candidate possesses appropriate level of analytical and technical knowledge required for the role
  • Minimum of two years related work experience preferred


CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

  • Certification of Apprentice for one practice area preferred (or external equivalent)
  • Urban Science Ambassador
  • Statistics 1 & Basic Statistics Assessment (or external equivalent)
  • Intro to Operations Research (or external equivalent)
