POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Business Development Consultant is a revenue-generating sales role focused on acquiring new dealership clients and expanding Urban Science’s footprint within the automotive industry. This role is responsible for prospecting, qualifying, and closing new business, while helping dealerships understand and act on performance data using Urban Science’s proprietary solutions such as SalesAlert, AutoHook, and TrafficView. 

 

Workplace flexibility has taken on a whole new meaning here at Urban Science. The requirements of each team, role and employee can look quite different. Leaders work with their teams to determine the right balance for working in-person and remotely, considering the needs of the business, our clients, cross-functional projects, individual work, and individual preference. This position can be remote or hybrid to our Detroit office.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Drives net-new revenue by prospecting and closing new dealership clients through cold outreach, referrals, and strategic follow-up
  • Owns the full sales cycle—from discovery to closing—to grow Urban Science’s dealer presence and monthly recurring revenue
  • Identifies new business opportunities through a variety of methods including prospecting, cold calling, networking and social media to market and sell our business solutions and services
  • Identifies key decision makers; develops and conducts effective presentations
  • Uses consultative selling techniques to provide insight on industry trends, strategies and challenges
  • Applies knowledge of product features to match the needs of dealer(s)
  • Negotiates prices, terms of sales, and service agreements; prepares contracts and submits orders
  • Owns the relationships with prospective and existing accounts, increasing their affinity for our product, adding new contracts, and likelihood of renewals
  • Consistently meets or exceeds assigned monthly, quarterly, and annual revenue sales goals
  • Develops and maintains opportunity pipeline, forecast data and customer database
  • Collaborates with Client Success and Operations teams to ensure that dealers are onboarded with accuracy and efficiency, driving positive customer experiences
  • Drives awareness and communication of solution changes and enhancements
  • Works with Practice and Client Success Team to ensure expertise in multiple Urban Science solutions; assists in creating cross-selling strategies
  • May represent Urban Science at industry events
  • Works with manager in completing own annual goal setting and performance review in a timely manner
  • Works with manager to prioritize other duties as assigned

  • Proven ability to consistently meet and exceed quotas in a solution-based sales environment. Comfortable navigating longer sales cycles and multiple decision-makers in a B2B environment.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

  • University degree preferred; degree in Business, Marketing or related field preferred from an accredited U.S. college or university or equivalent foreign institution. Other degrees will be considered if candidate possesses appropriate level of both technical and business knowledge and experience required for the role.
  • 3+ years’ experience in sales, inside sales or related experience
  • Automotive industry experience and understanding of auto dealerships preferred
  • Experience working with CRM platforms such as Salesforce preferred
