POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Dealer Direct Group Account Manager is a strategic leadership role responsible for managing relationships with large dealer groups, driving business growth, and leading a team to ensure the successful delivery of Urban Science Dealership Performance solutions. This role combines client-facing responsibilities with internal team leadership, requiring a deep understanding of dealership operations and the ability to guide both clients and staff toward shared success.

 

This role has current Hybrid Workplace flexibility with preference for a candidate that resides local to one of our offices, with availability to work in-person three days per week. We are headquartered in Detroit, MI and have additional U.S. based offices in Atlanta, Dallas (Plano), LA (Long Beach), Nashville (Franklin), New York (Woodcliff Lake, NJ), and Washington D.C. (Reston, VA).

 

However, consideration will be given for fully remote work if a candidate resides elsewhere in the United States.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage a team of consultants and managers responsible for individual and group dealer accounts.
  • Management Responsibilities:

    • Directly responsible for managing the Dealer Direct team, which would include all aspects of RSTMM (recruit, select, train, manage, motivate) including the following:

    • Interviewing & selection

    • Setting objectives

    • Conducting performance appraisals

    • Assigning and prioritizing work

    • Approval of timesheets

    • Establish and maintain quality, quantity and timeliness of work

    • Employee development, career planning and promotions

    • Oversee training

    • Coach, mentor, manage and motivate

    • Set the direction for and carry out established corporate policy, including disciplinary procedures

    • Act as an escalation point for any and issues

  • Responsible for demonstrating effective leadership skills by articulating the company vision, inspiring commitment, exemplifying professionalism, supporting innovation and change, and building strong, collaborative working relationships

  • May serve as the primary point of contact for assigned dealer group accounts.
  • Build and maintain long-term client relationships through strategic planning and regular communication.
  • Drive upsell and cross-sell opportunities to expand account revenue.
  • Monitor account performance and deliver executive-level insights and recommendations.
  • Develop a deep understanding of clients’ business goals, challenges and industry trends.
  • Collaborate with internal teams (e.g. Business Development, Practice, Client Success) to ensure client satisfaction and successful delivery of services.
  • Responsible for managing the relations with prospective dealers, dealer groups, and allied industry leaders. 
  • Supports internal contract management activities including CRM system tasks, revenue monitoring and budget support. 
  • Identifies opportunities for Urban Science to expand existing client relationships.
  • Subject matter expert of Urban Science’s Dealer Direct solutions and applies that knowledge to better meet client needs.
  • Oversee and facilitate the training of the field staff and dealers for assigned accounts.
  • Maintains a current and expansive knowledge of dealership operations industry trends in Automotive to effectively position the value proposition of Urban Science solutions.
  • Works with manager in completing own annual goal setting and performance review in a timely manner.
  • Works with manager to prioritize other duties as assigned.

  • Negotiation: Requires strong formal negotiation skills including the ability to explain and justify pricing, scope, cost estimates, as well as internal and external impacts.

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:

  • University degree preferred; business or related degrees are preferred from an accredited college or university, or equivalent foreign intuition.
  • 5+ years of experience in account management, client services or sales.
  • Proven track record of managing and growing strategic accounts.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills.
  • Strong business acumen
  • Experience with CRM systems (ex. SalesForce)
  • Deep knowledge of US automotive OEM field staff, dealer sales and marketing operations.
  • Strong people management experience.
