OVERVIEW:

The Accountant will perform a variety of accounting activities in accordance with accounting principles and standards to control the organization’s financial resources and ensure that it complies with all relevant regulations, laws, and reporting requirements. This role will reconcile accounts, post journal entries, and maintain a complete and accurate general ledger in accordance with accounting principles and reporting schedules so that the organization has a full and accurate statement of its financial position. The Accountant will collect, compile, verify, analyze financial information and prepare financial reports and accounting statements to provide senior management with accurate and timely information for making financial decisions. These reports may include profit and loss statements, balance sheets, depreciation statements, cash flow, debtor and creditor lists, repayment schedules, regulatory reports and filings. This position also provides technical accounting advice within area of expertise to functional or operational area managers to support development of revenue and expense budgets, increase understanding of financial reports, and management of financial responsibilities.

 

This role has current Hybrid Workplace flexibility local to our Mexico City office. Candidate must be available and willing to work in-person three days per week.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Balance bank statements (Post and reconcile).
  • Generate journal entries.
  • Process accounts receivable transactions (generate customer invoices, post and reconcile with financial information to prepare revenue entries and align with supporting documents)
  • Follow up with clients and manager regarding outstanding invoices
  • Process accounts payable transactions (post, initiate payment transfer).
  • Review and process expense reports, as well as, perform various analysis on expenses. Provide related support to employees.
  • Generate wire payments to vendors and employees.
  • Complete cash flow analysis.
  • Assist with running various financial reports.
  • Generate reports using financial system and Excel.
  • Reconcile balance sheet accounts.
  • Process intercompany reconciliation.
  • Assist with month-end and year-end close.
  • With guidance, partner with teams to ensure that key decision data is accurate, automated, and timely.
  • Work with manager to prioritize and complete other duties as assigned.
  • Reporting to accounting firm in Mexico & Brazil
  • Audit annual reporting
  • Assist the manager in organizing the annual financial calendar to share with employees.
  • Participate in monthly meetings with managers in Mexico and Brazil to review monthly revenues
  • Keep track of office fixed assets and verify their correct depreciation.

Qualifications - Education and Experience

  • Solid knowledge of accounting terminology and ability to understand and interpret analysis.
  • Solid knowledge of financial diagnostic methodologies and ability to understand drivers of cost variance.
  • Advanced skills in the use of MS Office suite of applications including PowerPoint, Excel and MS Project.
  • Ability to collaborate and identify/resolve conflicts or barriers to effective teamwork.
  • Ability to analyze problems, determine and implement appropriate solutions.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Strong math skills.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills required; including pivot tables and advanced formulas such as VLOOKUP and conditional formatting.
  • Understanding of Regional & US GAAP differences
  • Strong tax background (e.g. through experience in a tax advisor office)
  • Excellent written and oral communication in English and the local language.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

  • Must possess a combination of education and experience as follows:
  • Must hold a minimum of an Associates degree with focus in accounting or finance from an accredited U.S. college or university, or equivalent foreign institution.
  • Prefer a Baccalaureate degree with focus in accounting or finance from an accredited U.S. college or university, or equivalent foreign institution.
  • 3 years of working experience in accounting / finance.
  • Experience with Microsoft D365 reporting preferred
