OVERVIEW:
The Financial Analyst is responsible for supporting the Regional Finance Manager with all monthly financial processes and supporting the Finance department analytics. This position will closely collaborate with the FP&A team and support needs for budget/forecasting procedures.

 

This role has current Hybrid Workplace flexibility local to our Detroit, MI office location. Candidates must be available and willing to work in-person Wednesdays and Thursdays, flexible to change upon needs of the business. Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist with month end close duties, including: revenue journal entries, reconciliations, and financial statement reviews.
  • Support process of validating and reconciling results during month-end close process.
  • Support adherence to all corporate finance policies and required activities.
  • With guidance, use monthly financial statements, variance reports and other standard monthly, weekly or daily reports to analyze financial and operating results in support of regional and corporate business management.
  • Key resource for producing labor and revenue reporting and answering related questions.
  • With guidance, assist stakeholders in understanding the content of standard monthly reports
    and provide guidance use in monitoring business performance.
  • Provide support during yearly budgeting process.
  • Provide support for monthly forecasts.
  • Works with manager in completing own annual goal setting and performance review in a timely manner.
  • Proactively communicates with manager and business partners to provide updates and report issues in a timely manner.
  • Participate in ad-hoc Financial Analysis and Planning related projects or assignments, as needed.

Qualifications - Education and Experience

  • Documentation: Ability to create detailed documentation in a standardized format and follow detailed documentation instructions.
  • Technical Knowledge:
    • Demonstrated financial system data retrieval skills.
    • Strong Microsoft Excel skills required, including pivot table experience.
    • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Outlook.
    • Experience with an accounting system is beneficial.
  • Time Management: Ability to prioritize competing demands and manage multiple concurrent tasks.
  • Verbal Communication: Ability to compose and verbally deliver information of varying levels, using appropriate grammar, tone, inflection and non-verbal cues, while also listening to and correctly deciphering verbal communication delivered by others.

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:

  • Must have a baccalaureate degree with a focus in Accounting or Management Information Systems from an accredited U.S. college or university, or equivalent foreign institution.
  • Three to five years of related work experience preferred.
